I am Claire Elyce Wiedman, an MFA candidate at Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, OH. I received a BA in Studio Art: Photography, a BA in Art History with a minor in Biology, and an MA in Studio Art: Photography and Printmaking from the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, IN before moving to Ohio.
My work often employs tongue-in-cheek humor and true irony (not the Alanis Morissette kind), dream and nightmare imagery, and new combinations of familiar image tropes to create thought-provoking installations and series. I work in a combination of traditional and digital photography, often starting in one and incorporating it into the other.
Photography is my first love, with education coming in close second. When I finish my MFA, I will be combining the two and pursuing a career in academia. Both of my parents are professors, and my sister is the executive director of a children’s museum, so you could definitely say that education is an inherited trait in our family.
